On My Bookshelf

Although I am incredibly busy right now caring for a little someone, I still have the dream of running my own business in the back of my mind. Le sigh, how lovely it would be designing for my business and caring for my little one, oh the dream. To help myself get back into a creative mindset and into the swing of things, because lets be honest right now my mind tends to be centred around bottles, naps and diapers I started reading Craft Inc. Turn Your Creative Hobby into a Business, which so far has been fantastic. I especially enjoy the interviews with successful business owners so very inspiring! I also hope to pick up Handmade Weddings written by the lovely ladies from Hello Lucky. Not only is the styling gorgeous but I also think that it will be a great sense of inspiration for my little stationery and wedding invitation business.

A Cookie and Milk Birthday Party

I can not believe how adorable Camden's Cookie and Milk Birthday party is, right down to the last detail! I love the whole concept from the cupcake cup streamers to the sweet aprons and monogramed t-shirts. So lovely. Such a great inspiration for a possible DIY Birthday Party. It really is in the details. To see more of this stunning Birthday celebration (+ more) and the beautiful photos by Mel Larson take a peek at Cookie Mondays (a deliciously sweet blog to boot).

Dwellstudio

Dwell Studio is a simply stunning bedding company based in the USA. Their designs and palettes are soft, lovely and modern. They are well known for their designer baby bedding, but they also offer an adult bedding line. If you find their prices a bit too high, a more modest line of Dwell bedding is sold at Target. It has a lower price point without sacrificing the style. I am in love with their bedding and I am thrilled to share with you that they now offer a mix and match baby line. This is a wonderful option for those moms out there who want beautiful bedding for their baby, but want a bit more versatility or perhaps do not want to go all matchy matchy to complete their perfect baby crib.
I will take one of each please!

09 March 2011

I can't believe it has been so long since my last post, almost a whole month! My little snuggler loves attention, and well lets be honest I love giving her attention, so its a win win situation. As mentioned in my last post I wasn't quite happy with the baby announcements so I tweaked them just a little!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE coral and pool together so I decided to change the background to a lovely white, which I think really makes the design elements stand out. The finished announcement is a poster inspired by modern design and simple shapes. The announcement folds into three parts. Upon opening the pool envelope our family and friends are greeted by the message "We are delighted to be introducing our baby girl", the next section depicts a super cute elephant adorned with her name, and a little sign "hello." Finally the last section includes all of the important details day, weight and length.
These announcements were so fun to make, I can't wait to send them to our loved ones! I hope they enjoy receiving them as much as I enjoyed working on them!
I think I will also add a little photo with each announcement as well!

{Baby announcement}

Happy Friday Everyone, while my little one sleeps I will take a little bit of time to share her cute birth announcement with you all. I am not sure if this is the final design yet as I am still playing with colours. I was thinking of adding hints of blue or possibly even brown, or I may even try a different design. Its such an important design that I want it to be just perfect for our little miss.

For this specific design I was inspired by mid century posters. I wanted to create a poster announcement that had an unconventional shape, had a simple colour palette and was more illustrative. I also plan on including a snap shot of Kaisa with each poster.
